I’m Custer. A Cambrian from, da-da, Cambria Minor. We live in what your people on earth would called a super-earth. We recently came across your world because of the signals that you have been sending ou to the rest of the galaxy. And I said galaxy because some of your signals (radio, light, and other planetary/species specific signals that your species have not discovered yet) have passed through dimensional portals (don’t think of it as a gateway but it’s how I would describe it to you because you don’t have the concept of what these DP are) and compressed space (something your species also are not aware of). So, it has gone pretty far. There are species that don’t just wait around for signals to travel at the slow speed of light (I am sure you’re aware of the fact that light is among the slowest in the universe). They pull in space to get what they want. Mostly for good (but don’t get me into the Orazilites. AVOID AT ALL COST!).
There are sciences and technologies in the universe that is adaptable to each system that has life. There are a lot of organic life forms but we share only one thing. The desire to see how the world works. Make our mark in the universe.
I am sort of an earth expert. Every day after my education and lab sessions, I rush to my collective so I can spend the rest of the mid-cycle looking at the new data from your world. I came across what you called a “podcast” about space travel. there is discussion about earth’s size and gravity and that earth may be perfect size given the amount of propellant needed escape the planet. If earth was a super earth, a lot more propellant would be needed to lift off.
How much more? One of the guests said it would be the size of a pyramid. I don’t know a lot of your “pyramid” but I know that it sounds very big.
I think that’s where your hosts might be wrong. On worlds that are bigger than earth, there are still species that have managed to leave their worlds and colonize their own star systems. A few even managed to achieve interstellar travel.
The physics and chemistry is the same for all of us. The science of space and understanding of of how the layers of our universe is key to going to another world.
Seriously, you humans waste so much time on conventional energy sources and you do not see the most powerful and abundant source of energy is staring in your cora. Sorry. Humans do not have coras. I mean your faces. We don’t have faces like you do.
You know there is the sun. I do not understand why you have not perfected the use of solar sails to travel quickly within your solar system.
And how about biommicry? using organic fuel sources or natural occurring materials that are stronger and lighter than what can be created artificially. Ever thought about growing the ship you need? Don’t worry, the natural space leviathans will not mistaken any ship from earth for one of its own or food. Most of these space whales use cosmic radiation and particles as a source of energy (interested in learning more about these space giants?).
And once you get out there, ride the wave! La Grange points? While these points are not going to enough to let you get from one end of the system to the other quickly, look for streams of waves that may be able to move your ships without you expending a lot of fuel.
Look, no matter what species. We all look up and wonder. And just because a planet has a stronger gravity does not mean the species does not find a way to get out here. You know why? Because they don’t know any better! They want to find what is up there and they find a way.
Find a better way. The discovery is waiting to happen.
Oh, yeah. Some species do build pyramid size launches. Some build skyliners. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn’t. When when it doesn’t, they continue to until they have a successful launch.
